The basics

Who we are and why we started

Saqib Iqbal, LCSW, founded Eye Cue Mental Health in November 2017. He spent five years in community mental health in South Los Angeles before opening this practice. His goal was direct: bring private-practice quality psychotherapy to clients on Medi-Cal.

Many people Saqib worked with in county settings passed through metal detectors just to see a therapist. They were offered biweekly or monthly sessions when weekly care was what they needed. Eye Cue was built to close that gap. Today Eye Cue is a multi-clinician group practice, and Saqib supervises a team of associate clinicians serving Los Angeles County, Orange County, and statewide California through telehealth.

What we believe

The principles behind every session

In our 8 years of practice, a few things shape every clinical decision at Eye Cue.

1

We match the approach to the person

Our named approaches are Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. We match the approach to the person, not the other way around.

2

Treatment length follows medical necessity

No algorithm sequences you to a higher level of care. No session quota forces a premature end. You are in charge of your treatment.

3

If the fit is off, we match you again

If the assigned clinician is not the right fit, we match you with another clinician within the practice. You do not have to start over somewhere else.

Why us

What makes Eye Cue different

Private-practice psychotherapy on the insurance you already carry, with the same clinician in person or by video.

A real private practice that accepts Medi-Cal

Most private-practice therapists have left insurance panels. Eye Cue has not. We accept Medi-Cal alongside Cigna, Aetna, and four other plans, and we treat every client the same way regardless of which plan they carry.

The same therapist, in person or by video

If you want to see your therapist in person, you can. Or you can stay on telehealth. Same therapist either way. Big telehealth platforms cannot offer an office, and brick-and-mortar clinics rarely promise the same clinician both ways.

EMDR available through accepted plans

EMDR is an evidence-based approach for trauma and PTSD recognized by EMDRIA and the APA. A clinician on our team is trained in EMDR. Coverage depends on your plan and medical necessity; we verify before you start.

Multilingual care in six languages beyond English

Our team delivers psychotherapy in English plus six languages: Spanish, Farsi, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. Cultural and language fit matters in therapy more than in most clinical settings. We name all six because competitors only say "bilingual."

Open every day, including evenings and weekends

We are open seven days a week, 8 AM to 10 PM. Most LA-area Medi-Cal mental health clinics are closed weekends. Call us on Saturday or Sunday and we answer.

Clinician fit, inside the practice

If a therapist is not the right match, you switch to another Eye Cue clinician rather than leaving the practice. We navigate insurance changes with clients rather than terminating care.
