The basics
What does individual therapy actually help with?
Individual psychotherapy can help you manage your unregulated emotional responses to everyday stress. That is what most clients actually need, even when the presenting problem sounds different on the surface. Our clinicians work with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, grief, relationship conflict, and lingering effects of childhood trauma.
Start by calling us. We will match you to a clinician based on what you bring to the first session. If video fits your life better than the office, our telehealth therapy runs the same care with the same therapist, statewide across California.
How it works
How does the therapist-matching process work?
Getting matched to the right clinician is where most practices fail. We do not assign you to whoever is free first.
Call us
Reach us at 562-860-2891. Our intake coordinator asks about your insurance, the concerns you want to address, and any language or cultural preferences you have.
We match you
Saqib Iqbal, LCSW reviews the intake and matches you to the clinician on our team whose background and focus area fits best.
Your first session
You meet your clinician in person at our Cerritos office or via telehealth, your choice. The first session focuses on understanding your history and what you want from therapy.
You stay in control
If the fit is not right, we move you to another clinician in the practice. No one is pulling the strings. You are in charge of your treatment.
Why us
What makes Eye Cue different from a community mental health clinic?
The setting matters. Eye Cue is a quiet private-practice office at the 91 and 605 freeway intersection in Cerritos, not a crowded agency.
Matched to the right therapist
Our multi-clinician team lets you get matched to the right therapist for your concern, language, and schedule, not just the next available slot.
Medi-Cal and private insurance accepted
We accept Medi-Cal and many private insurance plans, so you pay what your coverage pays. About 70% of our current caseload is Medi-Cal clients.
Same therapist, in person or by video
You keep the same therapist for in-person and telehealth therapy sessions. No starting over if your schedule changes.
Therapy in your language
Our team delivers sessions in Spanish, Farsi, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. Real fluency, not a phone translator.
Open 7 days a week, 8 AM to 10 PM
We are open every day, including weekends and evenings, when most LA-area clinics are closed.
Treatment length set by your needs
Your treatment length follows your clinical needs, not a session quota or an insurance algorithm. You and your clinician decide when it is time.
What it helps with
Conditions we treat in individual therapy
The most common concerns our clinicians work with in individual psychotherapy. If you do not see yours here, call us; the intake is the best way to find out if we fit.
Anxiety
Generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and specific phobias. Many clients find CBT and solution-focused approaches help break the cycle. See our anxiety therapy page.
Depression
Major depressive disorder and persistent low mood that affects work, relationships, and day-to-day function. Learn more on our depression therapy page.
Trauma and PTSD
Childhood trauma, PTSD, and adjustment disorder. Our team includes clinicians trained in trauma-informed approaches. See our trauma therapy page.
Life transitions
Job loss, divorce, immigration, new parenthood, or any major change that disrupts your sense of stability. Therapy can help you adjust without shutting down.
Dual diagnosis
When a mental health condition and substance use overlap. A clinician on our team specializes in adult mental health with an addiction focus.
ADHD (preliminary assessment)
We offer preliminary narrative assessments for ADHD. Full diagnostic neuropsychological batteries are referred to specialist providers.
Coverage
What does individual therapy cost with Medi-Cal?
Eye Cue Mental Health accepts Medi-Cal and many private insurance plans including Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, LA Care, Molina, Cigna, and Aetna. Whether outpatient psychotherapy is covered, and what you pay out of pocket, depends on your specific plan and medical necessity. We verify your benefits before your first session so there are no surprises.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, cost is one of the biggest barriers to mental health care. That is why access through Medi-Cal is at the center of what we do. And if your insurance changes after you start, we work with you to stay in care rather than ending a relationship that is working. If your new plan is one we hold a contract with, you stay with your current therapist.

Good questions
Frequently asked questions about individual therapy in Cerritos
Still unsure? Call 562-860-2891 and we will talk it through, no commitment.
You can switch. Our multi-clinician team exists precisely for this reason. If the fit with your initial therapist is not right, we match you with another clinician in the practice. You do not have to start the intake process over or go looking somewhere else.
Research published by the American Psychological Association shows that for many conditions, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD, telehealth therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person care. At Eye Cue Mental Health, you work with the same therapist whether you are in our Cerritos office or on a video call, and you can switch between the two without changing therapists. Learn more about how we approach telehealth therapy.
We really do. About 70% of our active caseload is Medi-Cal clients. We hold contracts with Medi-Cal, Anthem Medi-Cal, and Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal. Call us at 562-860-2891 with your member ID and we will confirm your specific coverage on the call.
Call us and ask. Wait time depends on current availability across the team. Because we have 11 clinicians, there is often more flexibility than a solo-therapist practice. We do not publish a fixed wait time, but we will give you a straight answer on the call.
We do offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). A clinician on our team is trained in EMDR; ask our intake team about current availability. EMDR is almost always cash-only at 250 to 300 dollars per session in the private market. Coverage through Medi-Cal may be available depending on your plan. See our trauma therapy page for more detail.
Treatment length at Eye Cue is driven by your medical necessity, not a session cap set by an algorithm. We do not operate on a system that moves you to a lower level of care based on a quota. If your insurance has a session limit and you need more time, we discuss your options with you directly.
