The basics

Does Eye Cue Mental Health really accept Medi-Cal?

Yes, Medi-Cal is our most common insurance and accounts for roughly 70 percent of our current caseload. Saqib Iqbal, LCSW, founded Eye Cue Mental Health in November 2017 specifically to make private-practice psychotherapy available to people who carry Medi-Cal. We hold active contracts with Medi-Cal, Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, LA Care, and Molina, so coverage is not something we list and then quietly turn away. Call us with your plan name and we confirm directly before you drive in.

We also accept Cigna and Aetna for clients outside the Medi-Cal network. If you are unsure what your plan covers, our team can help you check before your first appointment. Start with our individual therapy sessions, the primary service line, scheduled at the cadence your clinician determines is right for you.

How it works

How to start therapy covered by Medi-Cal in Cerritos

Four steps from your first call to weekly sessions with the right clinician.

1

Call 562-860-2891

Our intake coordinator will ask for your insurance plan name. We confirm coverage on the call so there are no surprises. We are available 7 days a week, 8 AM to 10 PM.

2

Get matched with a clinician

We ask about your goals, language preference, and any specifics that matter to you. We then match you with the clinician on our team who fits best.

3

Schedule your first session

In-person sessions happen at 17215 Studebaker Rd., Suite #110, Cerritos, CA 90703. Telehealth sessions are available if you prefer to start there.

4

Start weekly

Your clinician sets the session cadence based on your clinical needs. If the match is not right after the first few sessions, we find you someone else on the team.

Why us

What the private-practice experience actually looks like

Private-practice quality care on the Medi-Cal you already carry, with the same clinician in person or by video.

Weekly sessions, not biweekly

Most Medi-Cal panels offer biweekly slots at best. At Eye Cue, your clinician sets the cadence based on what you need clinically, not on what is easiest to schedule in bulk.

Same therapist, in-person or telehealth

You can start in the office and switch to telehealth, or do the reverse, without losing your therapist. Telehealth is available statewide through our Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, Cigna, and Aetna contracts.

If the fit is off, we match you again

You will not have to start over with a new intake somewhere else. We have 11 clinicians on the team with different specializations, languages, and backgrounds. If your first match is not working, we match you within the practice.

Treatment length you and your clinician control

No automatic step-downs, no forced termination. Sessions continue as long as they are medically appropriate, and you are in charge of your treatment alongside your clinician.

A private office, not a clinic waiting room

The Cerritos office sits at the intersection of the 91 and 605 freeways, easy to reach from across LA County and Orange County. It is a calm, private-practice setting.

Multilingual care

Our team speaks Spanish, Farsi, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. Real fluency in a shared language changes what is possible in a session.

What it helps with

What conditions do Medi-Cal therapists at Eye Cue treat?

Outpatient psychotherapy for adults across a range of conditions, in person in Cerritos or by video across California.

Depression

Major depressive disorder and persistent depression. Psychotherapy is an evidence-based treatment, and your clinician sets the approach to what is going on for you.

Anxiety and panic

Generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and phobias. CBT-based work helps you recognize the pattern fueling the worry and slow it down.

PTSD and trauma

A clinician on our team trained in EMDR delivers this treatment to Medi-Cal clients. Whether your specific plan covers EMDR depends on your plan and medical necessity, and we verify first.

Adjustment and life transitions

Adjustment disorder and the stress of major change. ADHD work is limited to preliminary narrative assessments; full diagnostic batteries are referred out.

Substance abuse and addiction

A clinician on our team works in this area under LCSW supervision, addressing long-term sobriety, relapse risk, and the emotional patterns that drive substance use.

Dual diagnosis

Co-occurring mental health and substance use. We are an outpatient practice and do not offer medication management, inpatient, or residential care; we help you find a higher level of care if you need it.

Coverage

EMDR may be available through your Medi-Cal plan

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the most researched approaches for trauma and PTSD, but most private clinicians charge $250 to $300 per session and have left insurance panels entirely. Eye Cue has a clinician on our team trained in EMDR who delivers this treatment to Medi-Cal clients. That combination is uncommon in the LA and Orange County market.

Many clients who find us have already been told EMDR is not covered. Whether your specific Medi-Cal plan covers EMDR depends on your plan and medical necessity. Check with us directly and we verify your benefits before your first session. You can read more on our EMDR therapy page.

What clients say about Eye Cue Mental Health

A note from someone we worked with at our Cerritos office.

"This therapist has saved my life. Makes you feel great when you walk out of his office. Saqui will also give you tools to continue your treatment on your own time. Highly recommend him for people all ages."

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Call 562-860-2891 and we will talk it through, no commitment.

We hold active insurance contracts with Medi-Cal, Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, LA Care, and Molina. We take new Medi-Cal clients. Call us at 562-860-2891 and give us your plan name, and we will confirm on the spot.

We have 11 clinicians on the team. If the first match is not working, tell us and we will reassign you to another clinician within the practice. You will not have to redo your intake somewhere else.

We work with clients through insurance transitions when we can. Our team holds multiple contracts, so if your plan changes to one we accept, continuity is possible. Call us when the change happens and we will figure it out together.

For most presenting concerns, research supports telehealth as clinically comparable to in-person sessions. The advantage at Eye Cue is that you can move between the two with the same therapist. If something comes up where in-person is better, you can switch without losing your therapeutic relationship.

Medi-Cal generally does not cap outpatient psychotherapy sessions the way some commercial plans do, though authorization rules vary by plan. Treatment length at Eye Cue is based on medical necessity, determined by you and your clinician. If a coverage question comes up, our team will help you understand your options.

We cannot promise a specific wait time without knowing current availability, but we are open 7 days a week with extended hours. Call 562-860-2891 to ask about current openings.
