The basics

What is PTSD and how do we treat it in Cerritos, CA?

PTSD (posttraumatic stress disorder) is a condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a deeply distressing event. Per the National Institute of Mental Health's overview of PTSD, symptoms often include flashbacks, avoidance of reminders, negative changes in mood and thinking, and physical signs of heightened alertness. Our clinicians at Eye Cue Mental Health are trained in trauma-informed approaches and work with you at a pace you set.

Our team in Cerritos has treated adults and teens experiencing PTSD connected to childhood trauma, accidents, violence, medical events, and other difficult experiences. We operate as an outpatient psychotherapy practice, which means this is a lower level of care, not inpatient or residential. If your situation requires a higher level of care, we will say so and help you find the right fit. Our individual therapy sessions are scheduled at the frequency your clinician determines is right for you.

How we work

What trauma-informed care looks like at Eye Cue

A typical path into treatment, on the insurance you already carry.

1

Call us

You reach a real person at 562-860-2891. We ask about your insurance, your situation, and what you are looking for. No forms to fill out before you talk to someone.

2

Benefits check

We verify your Medi-Cal or private insurance before your first session so there are no surprises.

3

Matched to a clinician

You are paired with a therapist whose training and approach fit what you are dealing with. If the fit is not right after you start, you switch within the practice, not out of it.

4

Ongoing weekly sessions

Session frequency is based on your medical necessity, not an algorithm or a session quota. Treatment length is up to you and your clinician.

5

In-person or telehealth

Sessions happen at our Cerritos office or via telehealth statewide. You can move between them with the same therapist as your life changes.

Why us

What makes Eye Cue different from other PTSD options in Cerritos

Built for the gap most trauma survivors fall into: long waitlists, cash-pay specialists, and impersonal systems.

A private practice that holds Medi-Cal contracts

Trauma-specialized clinicians often go cash-pay at $200 to $300 per session. Eye Cue holds Medi-Cal contracts and accepts it among several insurances, so you are not forced to pay out of pocket for trauma care.

Weekly sessions where medically appropriate

Medi-Cal panels fill fast and often offer only biweekly or monthly slots. We schedule at the frequency your clinician determines, not the cadence an insurance algorithm picks.

A quiet office, not a crowded center

No metal detectors. No impersonal intake mill. A calm in-person setting at our Cerritos office on Studebaker Rd., at the 91 and 605 freeway interchange.

If the fit is off, we match you again

Large telehealth platforms match algorithmically, not by clinical fit. If your first match is not right, we move you to another clinician within the practice. You do not start over with a new intake somewhere else.

Open 7 days a week, 8 AM to 10 PM

Weekend and evening slots are rare among Medi-Cal mental health practices in the LA area. Our Cerritos office is open every day.

Trauma-focused approaches that are rare on panels

EMDR and other trauma-focused approaches are uncommon on insurance panels. We have a clinician on our team trained in EMDR; availability depends on scheduling and fit. Ask our intake team when you call.

Who it helps

Who is PTSD treatment right for?

Trauma shows up differently for different people. These are the groups our team most often works with.

Survivors of childhood trauma

Early adverse experiences can keep affecting sleep, relationships, and a sense of safety years later. Our clinicians work with complex childhood trauma at a pace you set.

People after accidents or medical events

Car accidents, serious injuries, and frightening medical experiences can leave lasting trauma responses. Therapy can help you process the event rather than relive it.

Survivors of violence

Trauma connected to violence often brings hypervigilance, flashbacks, and avoidance. Trauma-informed care builds safety first, then moves into processing.

Adults and teens on Medi-Cal

Many of our clients use Medi-Cal. We treat those clients exactly the same as any private-pay client, with weekly sessions and a real private-practice setting.

Bilingual clients

Our team delivers therapy in English, Spanish, Farsi, Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. You do not need a translator to do real trauma work.

People leaving telehealth-only platforms

If a big telehealth platform felt algorithmic, you can come in person or stay on telehealth here. Same therapist either way, anywhere in California.

Coverage

Does Eye Cue accept Medi-Cal for PTSD therapy?

Eye Cue Mental Health accepts Medi-Cal and many private insurance plans for PTSD treatment. Your specific coverage depends on your plan and on medical necessity criteria, and we verify your benefits before your first appointment. We also hold contracts with Anthem Medi-Cal (statewide), Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal (statewide), Cigna, and Aetna. If you are on LA Care or Molina, those plans are covered within LA County.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach for PTSD that the American Psychological Association lists among its recommended treatments. If you have been told EMDR usually costs $250 to $300 per hour cash, that is accurate for most practices. Eye Cue's Medi-Cal contracts may cover EMDR sessions, but coverage depends on your specific plan and medical necessity. We verify before you start. For more on how EMDR fits into trauma care, see our EMDR therapy page.

Good questions

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Call 562-860-2891 and we will talk it through, no commitment.

We actively accept Medi-Cal and are currently taking new Medi-Cal clients for PTSD treatment. Call 562-860-2891 and we will verify your specific plan before your first session. We also hold contracts with Anthem Medi-Cal, Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal, Cigna, Aetna, LA Care, and Molina.

You can switch to another clinician within the practice. You do not have to leave Eye Cue and start over with someone new. Ask our intake team about fit when you first call.

Telehealth can be effective for PTSD therapy, and research supports it as a valid modality for many people. Some clients prefer in-person, especially when working through more intense trauma material. At Eye Cue, you can start with telehealth and switch to in-person at our Cerritos office, or move back and forth, with the same therapist throughout.

We work to keep you in care through insurance changes rather than terminating. Coverage depends on which plan you move to, and we will check whether we hold a contract with your new plan. If we cannot maintain coverage, we will help you find options rather than leaving you without support.

Treatment length depends on your specific history, the severity of your symptoms, and how the work progresses. Some clients see meaningful relief in a few months; others work through trauma over a longer period. Your clinician will discuss what to expect based on your situation. Treatment length is based on your medical necessity, not a session quota.

Insurance coverage limits vary by plan. If you hit a limit, we will discuss your options with you, including whether continuing on a private-pay basis makes sense or whether other resources are available. We do not make promises about coverage before we check.
